Staying Connected: How Walmart Uses Social Media for Real-Time Customer Updates

Image
One brand that never fails to have quick customer responses is Walmart. From their Instagram to their Facebook page, they are known for posting and responding to customers who leave comments or questions. The best part is, it doesn't feel like a robot is the one behind the responses. They are almost personal with how they interact with their audience.  The first example is this one from a couple of days ago. Not only did they respond to the customer asking for more information on the current item they posted, but they also were able to connect with a frustrated customer who purchased a faulty TV from a store but has had no luck getting a response back from them.  This shows that they are quick with their two-way responses and can also help other customers who might need a fast response like the commenter above.  When they aren't answering questions or concerns, they are simply interacting with their customers, like in the image below. Sometimes it's nice to know tha...

AI in Online Marketing: The Future of Automation in Your Inbox

Image
Every Monday morning, I get to the office, make a cup of coffee, and filter through my inbox. Without fail, I find emails like the one below. I feel as though no matter how many rules I create for my email, these spammy emails always make their way to my main inbox. I can tell you already, nothing about this makes me want to take action, reach out, or even investigate further about the company. Actually, I do take action, and it's usually hitting the 'unsubscribe' button.  I get it, people get busy and this is one way to reach a mass audience, but I wish they knew that oftentimes, these emails don't even get looked at. Not only is it a waste of time (hopefully not money) for them, it creates a bad taste in my mouth as a potential customer. The worst part is that the email does appear to come from an actual employee, with a headshot and all. This is a missed opportunity from their end. Had they reached out in a more organic, transparent way, there could have been a conn...

The Power of the Reply: Why Social Media Response is Critical in a PR Crisis

In today's digital world, things happen fast, and oftentimes, they can spread across social media in minutes before brands can have time to react. Reacting is important and it's how brands react that either pull them out of a crisis or break their reputation. Being prompt and transparent on social media is essential when handling a PR crisis.  An article by ProhibitionPR.co talks about how long-term effects can hurt a brand when it's experiencing a crisis and doesn't have a crisis management plan. The article states, "These ramifications could be linked to a variety of legal, operational, and public relations concerns" (ProhibitionPr.co 2022). This shows how not having an immediate presence on social media after a crisis can not only hurt the reputation but can also cause legal issues, which in a lot of cases, is very hard to come back from.  The article also explains the importance of the difference between risk management and crisis management. In crisis ma...

Mastering the Message: Companies That Get Communication Right

Image
Kendamil First up, Kendamil. I first learned about Kendamil while doom-scrolling on Instagram one night. I was watching reals when one of their ads popped up. Naturally, I am turned off by ads because oftentimes, they are distracting and usually for a product I am not interested in. Except this time, it was like a blessing. We went through a lot of trial and error finding the right formula to feed our daughter when my breastfeeding journey came to an end. We found that the well-known brands, the ones the hospital hands out like candy, did not work with our daughter. I decided to further investigate Kendamil and started scrolling through their feed. Right off the bat, I loved their aesthetics and how visually appealing everything looked. They're successful because they have mastered the art of teaching you something of value but also making it fun and interesting. They also post real-time updates, like when the ports closed and the shelves were empty nationwide. That was scary as d...
